Garden furniture can really make a garden or it can really ruin it, which is why we at AHS Direct select our entire range of furniture for the garden and patio, with great care to make sure our furniture does make your garden. We will only list high quality products which represent good value for money. We look at design and style to offer you garden furniture that whilst looking modern, remains timeless and dateless, giving you years of use and pleasure. In keeping with our environmental policy, we only source wooden garden furniture from sustainable, managed plantations. Our teak has Perum Perhutani certification (guaranteed sustainable forests) and our hardwood is certified FSC Forest Stewardship Council) which guarantees it is supplied from (monitored and approved sustainable forests. Where possible, and in the majority of cases, the packaging used to wrap our garden furniture is recyclable and we would be grateful if you could try to.

Teak

All our teak garden furniture is sourced from managed and sustainable plantations. For years, Teak has been the number one choice of material for the production of high quality, fine garden furniture. This is because teak is packed full of its own natural oils which combined with its uniquely tight grain, make it exceptionally durable to the elements. It can withstand extremes in weather conditions without the need for any treatment and can be placed outside immediately upon receipt. All our teak garden furniture is hand produced and may need to be wiped with a damp cloth to remove any dust residue.

Over time, it will simply weather to a classic grey which many people really love. If however, you would prefer to slow this weathering process, you can treat the teak with high quality teak oil. Do bear in mind that this is purely a cosmetic process and inevitably the teak will weather over time. You can also purchase teak cleaning products which are useful in the general care and maintenance of your teak garden furniture. A light sanding with a fine grade paper is also useful for removing any roughening of the wood’s surface. We do recommend you cover your garden furniture during the winter or store it away for maximum protection.

Hardwood

All our hardwood garden furniture is sourced from monitored and approved sustainable forests and is certified FSC. Hardwood is a great medium for garden furniture. The rich dense colours complement natures own palette and while the grain is not as tight as teak, it is still a very durable wood. Unlike teak however, furniture for the garden made in hardwood will require regular maintenance. The garden furniture in hardwood supplied by AHS Direct has already been treated with hardwood sealer oil. To maintain the rich colour of the wood you should sand lightly when required and apply good quality hardwood sealer oil.

As with teak, hardwood garden furniture will weather over time and become silvery grey. This is perfectly natural, as the wood ages. You can slow this process by treating it but we do recommend you cover your garden furniture or store it away for maximum protection during the winter.
